The Finding Child
1999 / 8m 00s
director: Ed Bain
home | film
rating: Hubba
category: animation/saga continuation

The worst thing I can say about Ed Bain's The Finding Child is that it isn't completed. But what was left behind is very good.

The flash animation is very well done and has a storybook feel to it. The script is lyrical and mythic in feel. The music is sweeping and well-suited to the subject and animation.

I like the interactive quality of the film where one clicks on a bantha horn to proceed forward, though sometimes it got a little old and I got tired of continually being jarred out of the film by the sound of a bantha wail.

The story incorporates many wonderful trappings of Tatooine - B'omarr Monks, Aurra Sing, and, of course, Jawas - and puts them into the center of the story. Aurra Sing's appearance is especially well done with a sultry voice which gives her an alluring femme fatale quality.

If anyone knows if Bain ever completed this series, please let me know and make this Happy Jawa happier.
